Willie Ray Nelson

Willie Ray Nelson, 76, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2025. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 28, 1949, to the union of Willie Nelson Jr. and Gussie Mae Nelson.

Ray graduated from Herndon High School in 1967. He later married Georgia Mae Luster, who preceded him in death.

Ray was the proud owner of Nelson Roofing Company and dedicated 40 years to the roofing industry. His passion for his work and his business was evident throughout his career.

He is survived by his son, Michael Dewayne Luster, and step-daughter, Teresa Ann Luster; grandchildren, Orlando M. Luster and Derrian Luster; as well as his brother, Ben D. Nelson (Dallas, TX), sister, Hattie Mae Nelson of Vivian, LA, brother Melvin Nelson (Beverly Nelson) of Vivian, LA, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Willie’s warm heart, generosity, and strong work ethic will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy, both as a devoted family man and a respected business owner, will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
